Cyberbullying Detection is a Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Machine Learning project designed to identify harmful, abusive, threatening, or harassing content in online messages, comments, and social media posts. The system analyzes textual data and classifies content as cyberbullying or non-cyberbullying based on patterns learned from labeled datasets. Text preprocessing techniques such as tokenization, stop-word removal, and text vectorization help improve classification performance. Machine learning algorithms can then predict whether a message contains potentially harmful language. This project aims to support safer online communication by helping moderators identify content that may require further review.
Traditional cyberbullying detection often relies on users reporting harmful content and moderators manually reviewing messages. Basic keyword-based filtering systems identify predefined offensive words but may fail to understand context, spelling variations, slang, and indirect harassment.
The proposed system uses NLP and machine learning techniques to analyze textual content and identify potential cyberbullying. The input text is cleaned and transformed into numerical features using methods such as TF-IDF or word embeddings. A trained classification model predicts whether the text may contain cyberbullying-related content. The system can display the prediction and flag suspicious messages for human review. Its performance can be evaluated using accuracy, precision, recall, and F1-score.
