Breast Cancer Prediction is a machine learning-based healthcare application designed to classify whether a breast tumor is likely to be benign or malignant based on relevant diagnostic features. The system analyzes parameters such as cell size, cell shape, nucleus characteristics, texture, smoothness, compactness, concavity, symmetry, and other features obtained from a suitable breast cancer dataset. Machine learning classification algorithms are trained to identify patterns in the data and generate a prediction for new input records. The proposed system can support preliminary analysis and early awareness, while actual diagnosis requires appropriate clinical examination, imaging, laboratory testing, and evaluation by qualified healthcare professionals.
In the existing system, breast cancer assessment is performed by healthcare professionals using clinical examination, medical history, imaging techniques, and laboratory or pathological investigations. Specialists analyze various diagnostic findings to determine whether further investigation or treatment is required.
The proposed Breast Cancer Prediction System uses machine learning classification algorithms to analyze diagnostic features and classify breast tumor records. The dataset is first preprocessed by handling missing values, removing inconsistencies, encoding labels, and scaling numerical features when required.
Algorithms such as Logistic Regression, Decision Tree, Random Forest, Support Vector Machine (SVM), K-Nearest Neighbors (KNN), and Naive Bayes can be trained and compared. Performance can be evaluated using accuracy, precision, recall, F1-score, confusion matrix, and ROC-AUC.
The selected model can then be integrated into a user-friendly application. Users can enter the required diagnostic parameters, and the system processes the information through the trained model to generate the classification result.
Collect a suitable breast cancer dataset containing diagnostic features and a target label representing benign or malignant classification.
Analyze feature distributions and relationships between diagnostic characteristics and tumor classification.
Identify relevant diagnostic features and remove unnecessary or redundant attributes where appropriate.
Divide the dataset into training and testing subsets, for example:
Train multiple suitable classification algorithms using the prepared training dataset.
Evaluate the models using:
Select a suitable model based on its overall performance and intended application requirements.
Develop a user-friendly interface using Streamlit or Flask for entering diagnostic parameters.
Pass the input data through the same preprocessing pipeline and trained model to generate the classification result.
Test the application with different valid input records and verify the complete prediction workflow.
Deploy the application in a suitable local or cloud environment for controlled demonstration and research use.
