Kidney Disease Prediction is a machine learning-based healthcare application designed to predict the potential risk of kidney disease using important clinical and health-related parameters. The system analyzes factors such as age, blood pressure, specific gravity, albumin, sugar level, blood urea, serum creatinine, hemoglobin, and other relevant medical attributes. A machine learning classification model is trained using a kidney disease dataset to identify patterns associated with kidney disease. After entering the required patient information, the system processes the data and generates a predicted risk result. The proposed system can support early risk awareness and help healthcare professionals in preliminary assessment. It is intended as a risk-prediction and decision-support tool, not a replacement for professional medical diagnosis or clinical testing.
In the existing system, kidney disease assessment is generally performed by healthcare professionals using patient medical history, physical examination, laboratory investigations, and kidney function tests. Doctors analyze parameters such as blood pressure, blood urea, serum creatinine, albumin, sugar level, hemoglobin, and other clinical indicators to assess kidney function.
The proposed Kidney Disease Prediction System uses machine learning classification techniques to estimate the potential risk of kidney disease from selected clinical parameters. A historical kidney disease dataset is collected and preprocessed by handling missing values, removing inconsistencies, encoding categorical attributes, and scaling numerical features when required.
Machine learning algorithms such as Logistic Regression, Decision Tree, Random Forest, Support Vector Machine (SVM), and K-Nearest Neighbors (KNN) can be trained and evaluated. The models are compared using metrics such as accuracy, precision, recall, F1-score, confusion matrix, and ROC-AUC.
The selected model is integrated into a user-friendly application. Users can enter relevant patient information, and the system processes the input using the trained preprocessing pipeline and generates a predicted kidney disease-risk result. The system can provide an appropriate recommendation to seek professional medical evaluation when risk indicators are detected.
Collect a suitable kidney disease dataset containing relevant patient health parameters and a target variable representing kidney disease status.
Analyze relationships between important parameters such as blood pressure, albumin, blood urea, serum creatinine, hemoglobin, and kidney disease outcome.
Identify the most relevant clinical features for prediction and remove unnecessary or redundant attributes where appropriate.
Divide the processed dataset into training and testing subsets, for example:
Train suitable machine learning classification algorithms using the prepared training dataset.
Evaluate the trained models using:
Select the most suitable model based on its overall performance and suitability for the application.
Develop a user-friendly application using Streamlit or Flask with input fields for the required kidney-health parameters.
Pass the patient's input through the same preprocessing pipeline and trained model to generate the prediction.
Test the application using different valid input combinations and verify that the prediction workflow operates correctly.
Deploy the application in a suitable local or cloud environment for controlled demonstration and use.
