Automatic Question Difficulty Prediction is a machine learning-based system that automatically determines the difficulty level of questions by analyzing features such as question text, length, vocabulary, concepts involved, complexity, and historical student performance. The system can classify questions into categories such as Easy, Medium, and Hard. It helps educators create balanced assessments, organize question banks, and generate suitable questions for different student skill levels.
Question difficulty is generally determined manually by teachers or subject experts based on their experience and understanding of the curriculum.
Disadvantages:
The proposed system uses Natural Language Processing (NLP) and machine learning to analyze question characteristics and predict their difficulty level. Features such as question length, word frequency, vocabulary complexity, keywords, question type, concept complexity, and historical response statistics can be used for prediction.
Algorithms such as Logistic Regression, Decision Tree, Random Forest, SVM, and Gradient Boosting can be trained and evaluated. The trained model can be integrated into a Streamlit/Flask application where educators enter or upload questions and receive predicted difficulty levels.
